The RRC is advisory to the SA HR Director (HRD) who has final authority in all delegated classification matters.
- Reviews career positions for reclassification.
- Ensures equity, fairness, and consistency in SA’s reclassification process.
- Makes recommendations to improve the methods and procedures of reviewing and processing reclassification requests.
- No more than nine career staff will serve at one time, including the HRD. Membership will include a cross section of various classifications.
- Members should 1) have a broad knowledge of SA’s organizational structure and the campus, 2) be known for their ability to be objective, and 3) have good analytical skills.
- The HRD will serve as the chair or appoint one. The campus compensation analyst assigned to SA will be available in an advisory capacity.
- RRC membership changes as members leave the group. New membership is determined by skill set needs.
- The RRC meets monthly.
- Reclassification requests are submitted to the HRD via DPM.
- Reclassification actions are effective on the first of the month after the submission date.
- Positions requiring classification for recruitment are classified by the HRD, who will consult ad hoc with other RRC members, as needed.
- When questions arise about a position, the supervisor may be invited to meet with the RRC.
- When further clarification is needed about a position, a desk audit may be conducted.
- In the event that the position held by a RRC member is proposed for reclassification, that member will not participate in the review.
- In the event that a position supervised by a RRC member is proposed for reclassification, that member will not participate in the review.
- Appeals of RRC decisions are forwarded to the campus HR department in accordance with applicable staff policies and bargaining unit agreements.
