Welcome to Outreach at UC Berkeley!
For decades, the University of
California, Berkeley has nurtured partnerships between schools,
community colleges, and the university in an effort to improve
educational opportunity and help prepare students for university
admission and success.
Dozens of UC Berkeley outreach programs and initiatives work
with K-14 faculty and administrators, along with parents and
community members, to support students from kindergarten to
community college. Most programs focus on educational access
in the Bay Area, but UC Berkeley outreach has an impact that
stretches throughout Northern California and the nation.
UC Berkeley undergraduate and graduate students take pride in
a rich tradition of learning through community service. Each
semester, hundreds of students connect with these outreach programs,
working side-by-side with Berkeley faculty and staff to share
university research and resources with the community.
The people who will become California's leaders tomorrow are
students in K-14 schools today. In its many forms, outreach
at UC Berkeley aims to ensure that those leaders reflect California's
diversity and are therefore well prepared to meet the challenges
facing the state in the 21st century.

EGC student wins Students Rising Above scholarship. Watch her story on CBS5
Amily He, one of the students whom the Center for Educational Partnerships serves through our Educational Guidance Center (EGC), just graduated as valedictorian at Skyline HS. She is being featured on CBS5, as a winner of the Students Rising Above scholarship created by Wendy Tokuda. Click here to watch her courageous story.
Luz Chavez, our EGC College Advisor who helped Amily with SAT preparation courses, a tour of southern California college campuses and applications, is also interviewed in the story.
Amily is one of 22,000 low-income, first generation college-bound students served by the Center for Educational Partnerships each year in the Bay Area. The Educational Guidance Center is one of CEP’s ten programs which help students dream of and get to college through academic enrichment, family services and creating change at school and district levels. Ninety percent of the seniors in our programs attend college – and they are usually the first in their family to do so!
