Leadership Transition CHECK LIST

Plan ahead for transition. Successful leaders are often judged by how well they mentor, inform, and transition responsibilities to new student group officers.
A binder and electronic copies of the following recommended resources should be maintained by each student group:

- Copy of the group’s constitution
- Student Organization re-/registration information, current signatories etc. through the Office of Student Life, http://osl.berkeley.edu
- Sponsorship information, ex: department, ASUC, Graduate Assembly, Cal Corps etc.
- Job descriptions for all positions
- Calendars/Timelines
- Mission statement and goals
- Group history
- Recruitment fliers
- Meeting agendas
- Templates for old forms or letters
- Budgets from prior years
- Financial documents: receipts, invoices, ERF (electronic request forms) forms
- Banking information – account #s, institution, checks, deposit slips, authorized signatories, TAX ID, etc.
- ASUC cage application info/cage info
- Website info: Login and passwords
- Listserv info: Login and passwords and addresses for all listservs associates with the group
- Member recruitment advice: i.e. contacts for major advisors, process for flyering in dorms, student group contacts for emailing recruitment messages, etc.
- Fundraising information/strategies
- Any past foundation applications/donation appeals
- Newsletters
- Asset list, ex: table, chairs, supplies, and location
- Keys, ex: for lock boxes, storage locations, signboard chain, etc.
- Electronic copies of all important documents

- Info on Decal registration if you sponsor one
- Info on arranging Ed units if you offer them
- Info for any past vendors used (i.e. caterers, transportation services, printers, t-shirt shops, etc.)
- Copies of event forms/permits filed with OSL
- Descriptions of past events, check lists, plans etc.
