Sanctions

Sanctions in both the formal and informal processes are intended to have the effect of discouraging violations of the rules of conduct and educating students about appropriate behavior within the community. Examples of standard sanctions are warning/censure, disciplinary probation, suspension, dismissal, and restitution. In addition to standard sanctions, educational sanctions such as community service, letters of apology, counseling or additional coursework may be imposed to encourage students to learn from their prior behavior and educate others about the standards of the campus community.
