Student Groups
Getting Connected -- There are a number of LGBTIQ student groups at Cal. Visit http://queer.berkeley.edu/groups/ for a full listing. If you are unable to find a group that reflects your interests then start one. Stop by our office to find out how.
Advising -- LGBTIQ identified student groups may seek policy and leadership skills
advising by appointment with the coordinator of LGBT Programs and Services.
Queer Council -- While a student need not be affiliated with a student group to join the Queer Council, student groups are encouraged to participate by sending a representative to the weekly meetings. The Queer Council serves as a voice of the student LGBTIQ community, plans events, and manages the resources of the Queer Resource Center. Questions? Email council@queer.berkeley.edu.
Starting a Student Group – Check out the Office of Student Life’s (OSL) web page http://uga.berkeley.edu/SAS/Studentorgs.htm for more information on how to start a student group. Also, stop by the LGBT Programs and Services Office for specific information about running a LGBTIQ Student Group. We strongly advise all student groups (undergraduate, graduate, professional) to register your group with the Office of Student Life in 102 Sproul Hall. There are several benefits to registration including access to reserving campus facilities, funding from ASUC, Grad Assembly and other funding sources.
