Program Description
Destination: College (D:C) promotes higher education to low-income, first generation, underprivileged youth in the Bay Area. D:C members are placed with a partner site and prepare youth for college through academic advising, tutoring/academic support, and volunteer mentor recruitment/management. D:C is a program of UC Berkeley’s Center for Educational Partnerships and Cal Corps supports the recruitment and training of D:C members.
Program participants can work 300 hours/10 hrs a week or 450 hours/15 hrs a week while earning a monthly stipend. In addition, participants will receive a scholarship of $1,000 for 300-hour positions or $1,200 for 450-hour positions for educational expenses.
D:C began in 2002 and continues to be generously supported by AmeriCorps, the California Campus Compact Students in Service Program, Work-Study, partner sites, the Center for Education Partnerships, and the Cal Corps Public Service Center.
