Nondiscrimination Policy Statement:
The University of California, in accordance with applicable federal and state law and University policy, prohibits discrimination, including harassment, on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, physical or mental disability, medical condition (cancer-related or genetic characteristics), ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship, or status as a covered veteran (special disabled veteran, Vietnam-era veteran or any other veteran who served on active duty during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized). This nondiscrimination policy covers admission, access, and treatment in University programs and activities.

Below is a partial list of the services spouses or domestic partners may use On January 1, 2005 the California Registered Partner Rights and Responibilities Act of 2003 took effect, and under the new law, you must register as domestic partners with the State of California Office of Secretary of State in order for any of the new righs or responsibilities to affect you. Call ahead to find out what’s required to verify your relationship to each of the units. If you’re interested in a particular department that’s not listed, just call their office and ask about partner privileges.

Health services and insurance:
Spouses and domestic partners may use University Health Services on a fee-for-service basis. For referrals on dependent health insurance, check with the UHS insurance office or the website:

Couples counseling: One person must be a registered student to be eligible for counseling. (http://www.uhs.berkeley.edu; Tang Center; 2222 Bancroft Way; (510) 642-9494).

Campus family housing: Students with domestic partners and/or children are eligible for student family housing.  Primary proof of DP status is the California state registry(http://www.ss.ca.gov/business/sf/sf_dp.htm). RSF memberships: Spouses and domestic partners of Berkeley students qualify for special rates if the student purchases a membership. Call ahead to find out how to get a membership (Cal Rec Club; 2301 Bancroft Way, (510) 642-6400; http://calbears.berkeley.edu)

 

Spouse and domestic partner privileges

Health benefits: The University extends health insurance benefits to Domestic Partners of permanent career employees. For more information visit the Human Resources web page: http://hrweb.berkeley.edu or http://atyourservice.ucop.edu

Retirement benefits: The university extends retirement surviorship benefits to eligible UC employees with domestic partners, equal to that of married employees.
