Queer Council

Boalt Hall Queer Caucus
We are a student organization at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). The Queer Caucus is comprised of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender variant, and queer law students and our friends, families, and allies. We strive to provide social opportunities and support for our members, to develop an academic environment that supports queer scholarship, and to organize events relating to political, social, and legal issues affecting the queer and transgender communities.
Since its founding in 1978, the Boalt Hall Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Caucus has worked to eradicate the legal, political and social oppression of LGBT people, and to provide an affirming, supportive base for students of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. The Caucus is comprised of a diverse group of individuals. Ultimately, the true mission of the Caucus is drawn from the interests, concerns, and passions of its membership. Our membership has risen to over 50 students and our work has been increasingly instrumental, effective, and visible in the hallways of Boalt and the wider legal community. For more information, please contact queercaucus@boalt.org.
Cal Queer & Asian
305 Eshelman Hall Wednesday 7:30PM - 9:00PM
We are a social group, dedicated in strengthening the Cal Queer and Asian Community. Whether you're still questioning, seeking friends, or looking for activism opportunities, Cal Queer and Asian is a great group to involve yourself in. You don't even have to be queer or Asian - anyone who has a genuine interest in our cause is considered family :)
Cal Queer and Asian is dedicated to providing a safe support space to discuss different queer and Asian topics in our community and to hold social events such as clubbing trips, banquets, movie nights, and storytime. Our meetings are casual and relaxed, and we invite students to come in at anytime and bring a friend if they like.
Respect and confidentiality are two things that Cal Q&A commits to whenever we meet. For many of our members this could be the first time that something about their past or present is revealed in a social setting, or sensitive stories and experiences can arise, and we strive to make sure that our members feel comfortable and safe in participating with Cal Q&A.

Queer People of Color
305 Eshelman Hall Tuesdays 6:00PM
QPOC - We unite ourselves with one rainbow flag- a symbol for communal unity, yet all too often we neglect the individuals that come together to form that one symbol. As a community we find empowerment through unity, but at what cost? The amazing diversity here at Cal allows for everyone to bring their own individual perspective to the table, but very often we don't feel welcome to dinner. "There is no racism in the queer community" is a frequent dismissal to us, a denial of the basic fact that we are a very diverse and heterogeneous community that finds commonality in identifying with queer issues. Queer People of Color aims to acknowledge our community's immense diversity. Let's find empowerment as individuals and as a community. Let's work towards a community that lives up to our pre-college expectations that were more often than not, disappointed by the time we got here... it is time for queer people of color to be acknowledged and recognized... this is OUR opportunity to stand up and be heard. For more information, please contact ucbqpoc@gmail.com.
