Cal Corps Mission:

 The Cal Corps Public Service Center engages the University and the community in reciprocal partnerships to create educational programs for students, to promote leadership through service, and to foster social justice and civic engagement

Cal Corps Philosophy:

  • To engage students in training, learning, and reflection activities aimed at enhancing their sense of self, understanding of community and social issues, and developing core leadership competencies.
  • To partner with student groups, campus units, and community agencies to create and support meaningful opportunities for Cal students to work with K-12 youth and schools to increase educational equity and achievement.
  • To serve as a hub for student community development, bridging the gaps between different student populations in a meaningful and fun way.
  • To support a work environment based on quality, integrity, open communication, celebration, teamwork, and respect.
  • To create an operational infrastructure that applies the best practices in technology, administration, staffing, assessment, and planning to supporting students and the community.
  • To serve as a model center for the campus, community, and educational community.
  • To provide centralized access to individual, student group, and departmental resources for leadership development, civic engagement, public service, service-learning, and community development through professional and peer advising, and campus outreach.
  • To develop and implement quality programs in the community based in addressing real community assets and needs, designed with students, faculty, and community members as genuine partners.To facilitate dynamic experiential and community-based learning opportunities that promote symbiotic educational and developmental experiences for campus and community members.
