Thank you for your interest in becoming a Cal Corps Agency. On this page you will find helpful information about the process and other ways to recruit UC Berkeley students for your programs. This information and more is also available in a one-page summary .
Bonner Leaders Volunteer Manager Host Site
Student Volunteer Managers work on-site at community based organizations and schools to recruit other Cal student volunteers, organize training, facilitate reflections, and coordinate program activities and volunteer recognition events. Applications are available in mid-December each year; all agencies registered in our Volunteer Opportunities database (see below) will receive an invitation to participate.
Bears United in Literacy Development (BUILD) Host Site
Berkeley United in Literacy Development (BUILD) places reading literacy tutors with programs that serve K-8 youth. We are currently not seeking partners for this program due to lack of capacity. To be placed on a waiting list email Carrie Donovan .
Becoming a Cal Corps Agency
In order to participate in any of the Cal Corps agency programs, we ask you to register with the Volunteer Opportunities Database See below). Registering with our database allows you to list volunteer opportunities through this website, get invitations to special Cal Corps events, and keep in the loop about campus activities. Eligibility: Your agency must have 501c3 nonprofit status, be a government agency, or be a campus office. You must have quality service opportunities available which provide students with a positive learning experience. Cal Corps does not refer students to clerical positions. Supervision and training must be provided on an ongoing basis.
Short-term Projects Listing
We highlight agencies short-term and one-time service projects in our regular Community Plunge Days for individuals or student groups that are unable to make a long-term commitment but want to participate in service projects. This is an excellent way to introduce potential volunteers to your organization so that they may make a longer commitment. This listing is distributed campus wide to students, staff, student groups, and residence halls. Please submit your one time and short-term projects to publicservice@berkeley.edu

Volunteer Opportunities Database
With our new partnership with Volunteer Match, Cal Corps is able to provide easy, searchable access to over 100 Cal Corps Community Partners. These Community Partners are Bay Area nonprofits, public benefit agencies, and service organizations that are meeting genuine needs in their communities.
This exciting new project also includes postings for leadership and service opportunities at Cal.

If you are an agency that wishes to post your opportunity on the Cal Corps portion of Volunteer Match, please contact us for details.
Developing a Presence on Campus
If you would like to develop a presence on campus, we can help you plan an information session about your agency and the community it serves. We've found that a large number of students are interested in hearing stories from past and current volunteers. We'll even reserve a facility on your behalf and help advertise on campus. Contact us at publicservice@berkeley.edu for more information.
Offering Academic Credit
For agencies engaged in community service around the Berkeley area, offering academic credit is a viable way to attract committed student volunteers from UC Berkeley. Click here to learn how!
Special Events
Annually, Cal Corps sponsors a number of events that connect students with service and leadership opportunities. Many of these events involve our partner agencies, either by sponsoring a service project, presenting about your programs, or talking about your experiences working in a service-oriented field.
-
Nonprofit Career Fair - In the winter, we co-sponsor our campus' annual Nonprofit Career Fair with the campus' Career Center. This fair connects Cal students with employment opportunities in the nonprofit, social justice, and public service fields. Because this is not a volunteer generation fair, we ask that attendees have at least two full-time paid openings to participate. To find out about upcoming fairs and to request an invitation, visit the Career Center's website.
-
Panels and Educational Programs - We hold regular panels and trainings on a wide range of topics, many of which are focused on career options and the impact that service organizations are making on their communities. Contact Mike Bishop to learn about our current training needs and how by speaking an event or leading a workshop you can attract students to your cause.
