SERVICE AREAS

Services & Resources for Faculty:

If you're teaching a class, advising a student group, or running a campus program, we have resources to support you. Fill out an Interest Form and we can arrange for a presentation to talk about our services, crafted for your specific needs. Many faculty are interested in incorporating service experiences into their teaching and research work. Cal Corps staff members are available to connect you with a number of resources to support your work.

Advising Student Groups
As student involvement increases on campus, so do demands on advisors to provide excellent tools to students. We have developed an excellent resource guide on supporting student leadership development and can advise you on use of the Student Leadership Core Competencies in your work with students.

Community-based Research
Are you conducting research that is community-based and/or focused on community-related issues? Annually, as part of the Bonner Leaders Program, we place students with faculty to serve as participatory research assistants. Their yearlong placement supports your community-based research work. As a Bonner Leader, they participate in a yearlong leadership development seminar and receive a $1000 scholarship at the end of the year. Contact Megan Voorhees at 510/642-1081 for further information.

Service-Learning Course Development
Are you developing a course that uses service as part of your teaching method? Cal Corps is available to help you identify the best placement sites for your students and setup agency partnerships. You can look at the current volunteer opportunities available through our placement database, or contact Minh Dang at 510/642-3916 for assistance in identifying service sites. If you are looking for support in integrating service work into your course design, please contact our colleagues with the Service-Learning Research & Development Center (launches new window).

Recruiting Student Volunteers

In our weekly email newsletter, we pull opportunities from the database to highlight.
