IAP: A Model for Private Investment in Public Education
A remarkable coalition has come together to secure the future of the Incentive Awards Program and to make possible its continuing growth. To date, $42 million has been raised in endowment funds and annual gifts from over one thousand donors, led by naming donors The Bernard Osher Foundation and The Gabilan Foundation in Northern California, and David and Emily Pottruck, whose support of the Pre-collegiate Academy sustains this unique Program component in Los Angeles through 2009.

Our donors' support has allowed the program to distribute nearly $7 million in awards to Incentive Awards Scholars at Berkeley over the last thirteen years, and to augment this financial outlay with a wealth of Program services valued at an estimated cumulative total of $3.2 million over the same time frame. In the '05-'06 year, we are distributing over $1.6 million to Scholars.
