Benefits, Appeals,Terms and Conditions, Frequently Asked Questions

The Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship carries the highest honor awarded by the University of California, Berkeley to entering undergraduates.
The prestige of the Regents’ and Chancellor's Scholarship begins with the initial honor of being chosen for the award and honored at the Chancellor’s residence at a fall reception.  Further networking with faculty and fellow Scholars throughout one’s academic career at Cal results in lifelong beneficial associations.
While at Cal, recent Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholars served in such notable positions as Student Regent on the University Of California Board Of Regents, ASUC President, and Editor in Chief of the Daily Californian.  Scholars have been chosen as University Medalist, and have earned such prestigious awards as the Truman Scholarship and the Marshall Scholarship.
The Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship should be just one of the many forms of acknowledgement Scholars receive during their tenure as a RC Scholar.  The more recognitions one accrues, the larger one’s networking circle and the better one’s chances at graduate level education and an outstanding future.
Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarships are renewable each year for a maximum of 8 semesters total for incoming freshman and 4 semesters total for incoming junior transfer students, provided the Scholar maintains a 3.000 cumulative grade point average.  Appeals and exceptions are reviewed by the faculty.

The scholar's financial aid file must be complete in order for the Regents' and Chancellor’s Scholarship award to be applied automatically to CARS (Campus Accounts Receivable System).  Scholars should keep abreast of changes to their CARS account via Bear Facts.
