Viewing your Student's Aid

Due to federal privacy rules, the Financial Aid Office cannot give parents access to students' financial aid files online. However, If your son or daughter agrees, he/she can sign a FERPA form giving you permission to discus his/her financial aid status with us. The form has instructions on how to complete this process.

When your child is home for the summer he/she may wish to allow you to view the online Financial Aid Offer Letter on Bear Facts with him/her.

Some colleges have created special sites for parents to be able to view certain information if they have authorization from the student. At Berkeley we have yet to develop such a method.

Until that might happen the best method is to maintain and develop an excellent relationship with your son/daughter that allows for a free flow of information.
