Viewing Your Student's Aid

Did you know that your student can give you, a spouse, or a guardian access to view his or her financial aid information on MyFinAid? Your student can simply log on to MyFinAid, choose the Grant Access to MyFinAid link from the left menu bar, and follow the instructions on the Grant Access to MyFinAid page to authorize you, a spouse, or a guardian to log on to his or her MyFinAid account and view the financial aid information there. Your student will be given a user ID and a password for you to use to access MyFinAid. You can then go to myfinaid.berkeley.edu/myfinaid/Parent.html and enter that user ID and password to log on to your student's MyFinAid account. You should change your password the first time you log on.

Please note that having access to your student's records on MyFinAid does not give Financial Aid and Scholarships Office staff permission to discuss your student's financial aid with you in person, by telephone, or by email. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student records and prohibits University staff from disclosing certain information to parents or other individuals without the permission of the student.

If you would like to talk with Financial Aid and Scholarships Office staff in person, by telephone, or by email about your student's aid, please ask your student to also complete a separate authorization, called a "FERPA Authorization," accessible from the Grant Access link in the left menu bar of MyFinAid.
