Your student applies for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and listing UC Berkeley (federal school code: 001312) as one of his or her schools. The FAFSA is available on January 1 each year, and the priority deadline for completing it is March 2. Your student completes the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov. Privacy Notice to Parents:
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student records and prohibits University staff from disclosing certain information to parents or other individuals without the permission of the student. If you would like to talk with Financial Aid and Scholarships Office staff in person, by telephone, or by email about your student's aid, please ask your student to complete a "FERPA Authorization," accessible from the Grant Access link in the left column of MyFinAid.
