Students with Dependents

If you are a Berkeley student who is also a parent, then you should be finding financial aid information in either the Undergraduates or Graduates section of this web site, depending on your classification.

The federal government does not allow for a "married student" or "student parent" budget. However, you can ask for a budget adjustment for the cost of childcare for children under age 14. You need to fill out a Budget Appeal and attach proof of childcare costs.

In addition, if you are a current UC Berkeley student and you have a child under age 18 you could be eligible for a Parent Grant of $6,000. Contact the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office if you think you might be eligible.
