Types of Aid

The Graduate and Professional Unit (GPU) of the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office administers Federal Direct Loans for UC Berkeley graduate students as well as the Federal Grad Plus Loan. We also administer HPSL and the Federal Perkins Loan, two small funds targeted to a limited number of students. Click on othe "Loans" tab on the left for a loan chart with more information.

The Federal Work-Study Program is the only source of funding other than loans administered by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office does not administer Fellowships, Teaching and Research appointments, or departmental aid. Please contact your academic department or go to the Graduate Division's website for information about these types of awards.
