Graduate Student Financial Aid

2011-12 Graduate Student Financial Aid Award Guide

Alert: Continuing students should be aware of two significant changes in our loan procedures that began in 2010-11.

The Graduate and Professional Unit (GPU) of the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office administers Federal Direct Loans for UC Berkeley graduate students, as well as several smaller federal loan programs and the Federal Work-Study Program.

The Berkeley Law School and the Haas School of Business have their own financial aid offices. Law and Business students should contact their respective office for information.

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office does not administer fellowships, teaching and research appointments, or departmental aid. Please contact your academic department or go to the Graduate Division's website for information about these types of awards.

Address and Email Changes
We need your current email and postal address in order to send information to you. If you have any changes to either address, be sure to notify the Office of the Registrar (120 Sproul Hall) or update your information online on the student information system called Bear Facts at http://bearfacts.berkeley.edu.

Electronic Funds Transfer
We encourage all students to consider signing up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to receive your Campus Accounts Receivable System (CARS) refunds and student aid payments securely, conveniently, and as quickly as possible. EFT deposits your refunds directly into a designated checking or savings account, eliminating the risk of a lost or stolen refund check. To sign up for EFT, go to http://eftstudent.berkeley.edu.
