Transfer Students
The Berkeley campus is strongly committed to admitting transfer students, who typically make up about one-third of our fall class. Transfer students do very well at Berkeley, graduating with similar grade point averages and at similar rates as students who started Cal as freshmen.
Transfer admission is limited to students who have or will have completed a minimum of 60 UC-transferable semester units by the end of the spring term of the current semester. As a junior transfer applicant, you must indicate your intended major on the UC application, as your application for admission will be reviewed based on the completion of prerequisite courses for a particular academic program at Berkeley. For more information about specific course and unit requirements for transfer students, please check the links at the right side of this page.
Applying for Admission
Berkeley transfer applicants must complete the University of California application form. The current applications become available in early October.

After You File
Once you file a UC application to Berkeley, you may check the status of your application, accept an offer of admission, sign up for orientation and fulfill other enrollment requirements, all through our secure online applicant system.
Please note the following once you've filed your application:
Order test score reports. Freshman applicants should have the relevant testing agency send their official ACT and/or SAT results to all campuses to which they have applied.
Order final transcripts. Send transcripts only if you are admitted. If you're admitted for the fall term, arrange to have final, official transcripts to the campus Admissions Office no later than July 15.
Letters of recommendation. In most cases, UC does not require or solicit letters of recommendation for undergraduate admission. Do NOT submit recommendations unless they are specifically requested by a UC campus.
